Grandpa Howard Would be Proud of My Milking Skills!

Grandpa Howard would be so proud of my Milking Skills

I have picked up in Mexico!

YES I AM A Professional AT MILKING COWS. My buddy taught me how and then let me try. At first I didn't get any milk out, but then after like the 3rd squeeze, it started coming like Santa on Christmas.

The more I did it, the faster I was. He was so impressed! He said it took him days to get it to come out as fast as me the first time he ever tried. Then my comp tried. Poor little guy couldn’t get a drop out. I felt bad because the guy laughed and said something like Look! The Huero (white skin) can do it better than the Mexican! haha.

Seriously, I don’t know why you and all your brothers and sisters complained about milking the family cow. It was fun! I could totally do that for about 5 mornings in a row without even getting tired of it!

On cue, mom sent me this meme to go along with my blog this week.
Created with a photo I took. Good move mom!
Holy cow mom. I literally can’t stop laughing at that picture!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well played:)

Emails from 3-2-2015

Hey mommy! That is so awesome about that family! I got chills thinking about it! I hope they approach us in the street! It makes me so happy the missionary work you are able to do through that silly blog!!!! It is truly a tender mercy of the Lord. Speaking of which, I want to mention another MAJOR tender mercy. You asked if I get sick when we go up there in the other mountains? The area I am in is the highest area in our mission. We have 4 or 5 towns in our area. We are the only missionaries so we have to travel a ton. Most of the time just to eat lunch because there aren’t very members in the town that we live which is Huatusco. The closest town that we go to is called Coscomatopec. It is about 45 minutes by bus, and 45 minutes of nothing but switch-backs going up and down these mountains. When I first arrived, I was surprised I didn’t get sick. (Side Note: Elder Hackleman has suffered from severe motion sickness since he was born. Riding in a car, especially a bumpy ride, has caused him to have terrible migraine headaches. At one point he was being seen by a neurologist because of the severity of the problem.)

Every time we take the bus, I thank my Father in Heaven, because not ONCE have I gotten car sick. I know it isn´t a big deal, but to me it is a HUGE deal.

And about your answer for Joseph Smith, Thanks for that article! It was very interesting to read. I think last time I mentioned how I was talking with our Branch President? His name is President Luna. He is probably my favorite person I have met so far. He worked in the US for 7 years or so and was Bishop and on the High Council in various California Wards. He is so smart with deep doctrine stuff, (just like you), so we have had some awesome conversations.

We were talking about this revelation given to Joseph about how if he lived to be 85, he would see Christ. We think this scripture is very literal, but unrealistic. God obviously knew Joseph would not live that long. We think that when God said that, and I don´t think Joseph even realized this at the time, or maybe he was just to humble to say so, he was actually referring to the capacity of Joseph Smith. Think about everything Joseph was able to accomplish. EVERYTHING. Not just the restoration of the church, but the organization also! Relief Society, every leadership position, everything! I think that based on the capacity that Joseph had, with only 40 more years in his life, he could have built up the church to the 115 Temples, 160,000 members, hundreds of missions, and everything else that needs to be done and prepared before the coming of the Lord. Those numbers aren’t exact obviously. I can’t remember what they are, but you get the point. Based on everything Joseph was able to do in his 45 years of life, I think his potential was so great, that he could have prepared the world for Christ´s coming in only 40 more years. Now obviously that didn´t happen and God knew it wouldn’t, but it COULD have. Just a fun thought!

What day does Jaren get back??? What are his plans??? Are you guys just so excited??

So I know there was other stuff I wanted to tell you, but I forgot so I guess when I remember them tonight as I am laying in bed, I will write them down and tell you next week. Oh, can you send me Bishop Ford's email? He sent me the ward Christmas letter and I wanted to say thank you! How is in the bishopric now? Have you heard from Brother Brandvoldt? I love that guy!  What else is new?

Ahhh!!!!!!!!! Good news! I remembered the most important part of the week! We woke up early to go do a service project for a guy who lives next to one of the members in the branch. He is a potential investigator so we went to help him out. I will send pictures of what we did.

Thanks for everything mom! Te amo mucho. Mejor madre del mundo!

Elder Hackleman

One more email from Elder Hackleman

For this service project, we went to this guys’ house. He has a bunch of cows!:) Don’t scream, but YES I AM A Professional AT MILKING COWS. He taught me how and then let me try. At first I didn’t get any milk out, but then after like the 3rd squeeze, it started coming like Santa on Christmas. The more I did it, the faster I was. He was so impressed! Seriously, I don’t know why you and all your brothers and sisters complained about milking the family cow. It was fun! I could totally do that for about 5 mornings in a row without even getting tired of it!

He gave us 3 liters of the milk as a gift. You know how much I just love white milk, so the first thing I did was bought some chocolate powder. haha it makes some awesome chocolate milk!!!! hahaha. Ok I think that is everything now... love you!

One more thing. So I have been reading in the scriptures a lot (obviously haha what else do missionary’s read? lol). I am just about to finish Alma. I am going slow because I am reading in Spanish and English and marking the clank out of them. Today, everyone got an email from President Cordova saying that he felt inspired from a recent reading of Alma 4 that we need to read the book of Mormon. Like the challenge of President Hinkley. No matter where we are, to start over, and to mark everything that talks about the Savior in blue and everything about his atonement in red. I had a goal to finish the Book of Mormon by my birthday, but it looks like that probably won’t happen now haha. I am just worried because I have already marked those scriptures using different colors... oh well I will figure it out haha.

Make sure to convince Jaren when he gets home to go to Peru State! haha

Love,

Elder Hackleman

P.S. my goodness mother! Cuidado con su dedo chikito!! Careful with that pinky finger! Sorry that happened, but I am interested to see what your new head board looks like! haha. What are you studying right now in Algebra? Those X´s and Y´s will get ya every time if you aren’t careful

Jaren gets home on March 24th. It's coming up fast ha ha.

So I broke my pinkie finger. Seriously, what is my deal? I don't even know how I did it. I just woke up one morning with it broken. I think I might have hooked it on the "Pallet" head board I made. It's not too bad, but I feel pretty dumb. Time to make a new headboard ha ha.

I have been having nightmare about my silly Algebra class. Tim said I was calling out in the night and trying to get away from X's and Y's. Boy I will be glad when this semester is over ha. I am getting too old for this stuff.

So, I have had a fun week. I posted a picture from your blog on a pictures around the world google account. I have since been private messaging with a lady about the picture. She told me the picture was taken in her home town and she loved that I posted it. (The picture is the Virgin Mary picture). She writes in very good English so I asked where she lives now. She is living in Arizona, but her mom and sister still live in Mexico. I asked her if they would like to hear a message about Christ from you. She said she had been talking to them about it, and they are thinking about it. I guess they have seen you around town and recognized you from there and the blog. Crazy isn't it?

Grandma Polly comes on Wed. She will stay for 3 weeks. She goes home the Sunday before Jaren gets home.

Collin's sister got home on Friday. Collin flew in for a few days. We didn't see him while he was here. He texted Nathan and asked him to come by and see him yesterday, but Nathan didn't see the message until it was too late. Nathan was pretty bummed about it.

I sure love you!

I Have a Question

I can't remember which section it is in, but I remember reading about the second coming of Christ in Doctrine & Covenants. It is the section when Joseph Smith asks Christ, ¨When are you coming to the earth for the second coming?¨ He doesn't really give him an answer until the third time Joseph asks and He responds with ¨look if you live to be 85, you will see my coming.¨ Just a thought, what do you think about that scripture? I never gave it much thought, but I was talking about it with my branch president yesterday and we came to a very interesting conclusion, but first I want to see what you think.

This was a question posed by Elder Hackleman to his mom. The Section he is referring to is:

Doctrine and Covenants Section 130:

14 I was once praying very earnestly to know the time of the coming of the Son of Man, when I heard a voice repeat the following:

15 Joseph, my son, if thou livest until thou art eighty-five years old, thou shalt see the face of the Son of Man; therefore let this suffice, and trouble me no more on this matter.

16 I was left thus, without being able to decide whether this coming referred to the beginning of the millennium or to some previous appearing, or whether I should die and thus see his face.

17 I believe the coming of the Son of Man will not be any sooner than that time.

Doubt your doubts, before your doubt your faith.  President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

(Asking questions does not mean you lack faith, but shows you are studying, pondering, and learning.)

Answer Quoted from:

Question: Did Joseph Smith prophesy that Jesus Christ would return in 1890?
Jesus Christ stated that no mortals or angels would know when He would return

It is important to realize that while Jesus Christ resided on the earth he stated that no mortals or angels would know when He would return:

But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only" (Matthew 24:36).

Because we do not know, we need to constantly be ready for his return, for "in such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man cometh" (Matthew 24:44).
In February 1835, Joseph Smith is reported to have said that "fifty-six years should wind up the scene"

Joseph Smith did make several interesting statements about seeing the Savior. B.H. Roberts in History of the Church notes the Prophet's remark in 1835 when he is reported to have said that,

...it was the will of God that those who went Zion, with a determination to lay down their lives, if necessary, should be ordained to the ministry, and go forth to prune the vineyard for the last time, or the coming of the Lord, which was nigh—even fifty-six years should wind up the scene.[1]

In Feb 1835, fifty six years in the future was February 1891. This would be shortly after Joseph's 85th birthday (he was born 23 December 1805).

Joseph made continuous reference to this date in light of a revelation which he reported. It is recorded in D&C 130:14-17, and it is clear that the revelation leaves the exact date of Christ's second coming much more uncertain. Whatever Joseph meant or understood by "wind up the scene," it must be interpreted in light of the revelation as he reported it, and the conclusions which he drew from it.

This particular revelation is a favorite of anti-Mormon critics. They have misquoted it, misreported it, misinterpreted it and misexplained it. Most often they simply do not complete the quote, making it appear that the Prophet said something he didn't.
Joseph acknowledged as he recorded this revelation that he didn't understand its meaning or intent

The revelation is reported in abbreviated form, and Joseph acknowledged as he recorded it that he didn't understand its meaning or intent:

I was once praying very earnestly to know the time of the coming of the Son of Man, when I heard a voice repeat the following: Joseph, my son, if thou livest until thou art eighty-five years old, thou shalt see the face of the Son of Man; therefore let this suffice, and trouble me no more on this matter. (D&C 130:14-15).

Many critics end the quote at this point, and then they hope the reader will assume that the statement is a prophecy that the Savior would come in the year 1890 or 1891, since the Prophet Joseph was born in 1805. (Other critics do not even bother to cited D&C 130, and simply rely on the quote from the Kirtland Council Minute Book of 1835, reproduced in History of the Church.)
Joseph expresses his uncertainty: "I believe the coming of the Son of Man will not be any sooner than that time"

However, if the reader will continue further in that passage, they will see how Joseph Smith himself understood the revelation, unfiltered through note-takers or critics who wish to explain his meaning:

I was left thus, without being able to decide whether this coming referred to the beginning of the millennium or to some previous appearing, or whether I should die and thus see his face (D&C :130).

The actual content of Joseph's prophecy--if personal opinion can be said to be prophecy--does not occur until the next verse:

I believe the coming of the Son of Man will not be any sooner than that time.(D&C 130:17.)

Without a doubt, Joseph's belief proved correct. The Lord did not return to the earth for His Second Coming before that time.

At least twice, as is recorded in the Doctrine and Covenants, Joseph saw the face of the Son of Man

But there are other aspects of fulfillment that should also be considered. We do not know when it was that the Prophet earnestly prayed to know the time of the Lord's coming. The context, (verse 13), shows that it may have taken place in 1832 or earlier. At least twice, as is recorded in the Doctrine and Covenants, Joseph saw the face of the Son of Man. D&C 76:20-24 and D&C 110:2-10 both record appearances of the Lord Jesus Christ, either of which may constitute fulfillment of the Lord's prophetic promise. He may also have seen the Lord's face at the time of his death in 1844, as he pondered in D&C 130:16.

Joseph made reference to the incident on at least two other occasions, and indicated that his belief was not that the Lord would come by the time of his 85th birthday, but rather that the Lord would not come before that time, which of course was a correct prophecy.

In the History of the Church:

I prophesy in the name of the Lord God, and let it be written--the Son of Man will not come in the clouds of heaven till I am eighty-five years old.[2]

Again, Joseph Smith doesn't say the Lord will come then, but that He will not come before that time. The return to his age 85 shows that all these remarks derive from the same interpretation of his somewhat opaque revelation from the Lord, who seems determined to tell his curious prophet nothing further.

Joseph denies that anyone knows an exact date

Later, Joseph Smith again prophesied on the subject of Christ's coming:

I also prophesy, in the name of the Lord, that Christ will not come in forty years; and if God ever spoke by my mouth, He will not come in that length of time. Brethren, when you go home, write this down, that it may be remembered. Jesus Christ never did reveal to any man the precise time that He would come. Go and read the scriptures, and you cannot find anything that specifies the exact hour He would come; and all that say so are false teachers.[3]

This remark was made on 10 March 1844. It echoes a teaching given through Joseph in the Doctrine and Covenants in March 1831:

And they have done unto the Son of Man even as they listed; and he has taken his power on the right hand of his glory, and now reigneth in the heavens, and will reign till he descends on the earth to put all enemies under his feet, which time is nigh at hand—I, the Lord God, have spoken it; but the hour and the day no man knoweth, neither the angels in heaven, nor shall they know until he comes. (D&C 49:6-7, emphasis added)

Thus, from the beginning to the end of his ministry, Joseph Smith denied that a man could or would know the date of the second coming of Christ. (Joseph's remarks may have been instigated by the intense interest among religious believers in William Miller's prophecy that Christ would return by 1843.)

Letter From Uncle Daniel

My Uncle Daniel, Bishop Beck

Elder Hackleman,

How are you this week? I have to say, the work you are doing is amazing! I am so excited each week to read the happenings of Vera Cruz. It brings back great memories of when I was in Texas. Except for the fact that I was not nearly as prepared as you are, or as bold, but just as handsome. haha.

Anyway, I have attached an article in response to your question to Amy. I'm sure she will have a better answer, but it was fun studying that while looking into it. By the way, the car with the speaker idea is genius. I did something similar in San Angelo Texas. Our ward mission leader in that area owned the Mexican radio station, and a tortilla factory, so for service, we started teaching English at the church each week, and he would announce it several times a day on the radio. He also put up fliers in the tortilla factory. Guess what station every Mexican listened to? And guess where they all went if they didn't want to make their own tortillas? That's right, we had a captive audience. After the first week of advertising, the first night of teaching was overwhelming. We had between 30-40 people on our first night, show up to the Relief Society Room, just begging us to teach English.

We taught it just the same way we learned Spanish in the MTC. The next week, we involved our whole district as there were too many people to handle for just the two of us. We started that about 3 weeks before I was transferred to Fort Worth, and shortly after came home. We had about 10 sincere investigators in that 3 weeks, and many more to follow after I left. On a side note, there is a Beck family that moved into our current ward about two months ago. He is a few years older, but served in the same mission as I did. He was also Spanish speaking, and was the one that converted the ward mission leader mentioned above. How cool is that? Anyway, when I heard about the car/speaker driving around town, I thought it might be something to have them announce English lessons? Not sure how many people there care to learn, but I would imagine there are several. It is a pretty non-threatening way to get them into our building. Then, the spirit will take over from there as you already know. Just a thought. Just keep letting the spirit guide you with all of the strange ways of finding.

I love the random name idea. Who would of ever thought a less active member would be found doing that? It just proves that the manner of finding isn't as critical as the desire to find.

"If you have the desire to serve God,

You are called to the work."

"Knock and it shall be opened unto you."

I know how true that statement is. And also know the blessings that come from being a doer of the word. I have one more thing to share. When you get a chance, sooner than later, read and study the word Ministry in the Bible Dictionary. There is a lot of doctrine taught in it. It starts out like this:

"The work of the ministry is to do the work of the Lord on the earth- to represent the Lord among the people, preach the gospel, and administer the ordinances thereof. The chosen servants (you) and appointed officers in the Church of Jesus Christ are put on earth by Him to conduct the work necessary for the salvation of mankind. A minister called of God, as was Aaron, and endowed with the holy priesthood, represents the Lord when he is performing his official duties and is the Lord's agent."

Elder Hackleman, I know that you are worthy of this work. I also know that you are the Lords agent, and when moved upon by the Holy Ghost, it is the same as if He were doing it. It is hard sometimes to understand that, but it is true. I have no doubt that he is guiding your work, and that you will bless the lives of so many people. Even more than you will know in this life. You are blessing the lives of my family by being such a great example and a guide for all of us to follow. May the Lord continue to bless you as you serve. I love you and think about you often. I have to say, I am a bit jealous and wish we could go knock some doors together. Or rather, clap outside of the fence and say some random name. haha. Love you buddy, have a great week.

Answer:

D&C 45:24–30. What Are the “Times of the Gentiles” and When Are They Fulfilled?
President Joseph Fielding Smith explained that “the times of the Gentiles commenced shortly after the death of our Redeemer. The Jews soon rejected the Gospel and it was then taken to the Gentiles. The times of the Gentiles have continued from that time until now. The Lord said: ‘But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.’ In that day the Gospel was given first to the Jews and then taken to the Gentiles. In this dispensation it was taken first to the Gentiles and afterwards it will go to the Jews.” (Church History and Modern Revelation, 1:196.)

The times of the Gentiles began with Peter’s vision and the baptism of Cornelius (see Acts 10). Paul and the other Apostles then began the greatmissionary work to the Gentiles, since the Jewish nation, for the most part, had rejected Jesus. As President Smith indicated, the times that the major gospel effort would be with gentile nations continued with the Restoration. The times of the Gentiles will be over, or fulfilled, when the major efforts of gospel teaching begin to focus on the house of Israel: the Lamanites, the Jews, and the ten tribes.

In the Olivet Discourse, the Savior gave four signs to indicate when the times of the Gentiles were over. Three are given in section 45, and one is given in Luke’s account of the great discourse.

The Parable of a Children's Book

When I was young a read this book.  It is about a thirteen-year-old boy named Brian who is on his way to visit his father when the single engine plane in which he is flying crashes because the pilot had a heart attack. Suddenly, Brian finds himself alone in the Canadian wilderness with nothing but his clothing, a tattered windbreaker, and the hatchet his mother has given him as a present.  I never guessed that reading this book as a young child might help me save another person's life.

Thank you for the update on dad. I have been worried about him. I can only imagine the panic grandma had when he was having his heart issue. That reminds me, we had another farewell at church this Sunday. He was my best friend in the ward going to Santiago Chile for his mission. He accompanied us to lessons all the time and he was super chill.

When we were there I was having some issues with my eyes again. I don’t think I have told you about this before because I didn't want you to worry or anything but I got an infection in my eye. It was pretty painful. It was in my left eye mostly but a little in my right. I can’t open them in the sunlight so when we are out walking around I am totally blind. I just listen to the footsteps of my comp and follow him that way haha. I don’t think he really knew how bad it was but they were very, very red so he knew something was up.

Anyways this happens for a few days and then it goes away so I haven’t done anything about it. Well this time it was particularly bad so my comp and I went into another room of the church during his farewell and called the mission doctor. I didn't want to do it before because I never want to miss out on a day of my mission and I was worried she would make me stay home and rest or something.

Well, while we were in the room, this guy, I think he is like 21 or 22, came in with another Returned missionary and collapsed on a chair clutching his shoulder. He couldn't speak because he was in so much pain so I asked the other guy named Carlos what happened. Carlos didn't know. All Carlos could tell me was his friend said he couldn't feel half of his face.

I watched him for a minute and I started to think of dad for some reason. Then I remembered the book, “Hatchet.” In the book I remembered how the pilot died of a heart attack and right before he died he was clutching his shoulder because of the pain. I looked at Carlos and said, “El tiene un problema con su corazon. el necesita un bendicion ahorita” which translates to he is having heart problems and needs a blessing right now. My comp and I gave him a blessing. I put quite a bit of consecrated oil on his head on accident because I couldn't see very well.

After a couple of minutes the pain went away and he was able to tell us what was going on. He served a mission for 5 months, but got sent home because of his health. He has a very week heart and this stuff happens quite often but never this severe. He asked me how I knew he had heart problems. I just looked at him and said, “The Holy Ghost works in mysterious ways.”

So that was pretty crazy but I am glad we were in that room when we were! But on the bright side, I didn’t have to miss a single day of prosolyting! I stopped at a pharmacy and bought the eye drops the doc told me to get and I haven’t had any more problems with it! So all is well!

How is life in Nebraska besides dads operation? How is your toe? and pathway program? Getting straight A’s? What are Nathan and Grant up to? Oh and by the way I like your new coat! Looks awesome but in case you were wondering, no don’t worry about sending me one. I don’t think I am going to need it right now. Thanks though! It is pretty warm today but it is supposed to cool off tomorrow to like 70 or so. I’m pretty excited for that.

I love you all! Keep the cottonwood ward going for me and tell Becky and Tim hello! Give the kids a hug from elder Hackleman!

Te amo much

Elder S. Hackleman

PS... I feel like I am forgetting to tell you something but I can’t remember what it is. I will write it down when I remember so I can tell you next week.

Oh and my doctrinal question for the week also. I was studying scriptures about John the Baptist one day and I am a little confused with the timeline of things. I remember hearing somewhere that before Joseph Smith, he was one of the most important prophets because he prepared the way for Christ and because he baptized Christ obviously. But was he considered a prophet? Because I thought Christ was the prophet at the time? If he wasn’t, why wasn’t he an apostle?

I am cooking pop in the oven cinnamon rolls right now, to help warm up the house.

Karen came back with us so she can be here for Tim's surgery this afternoon. I'm sure all will go well. We decided it was time for your dad to get his hernia fixed once and for all. I think he will probably have to have it done every ten years or so.

We sure have been talking a lot about you and Jaren with grandma. She talks about all the missionaries that come and visit her and grandpa all the time.

That's awesome that Seth remembered the heart attack symptoms from a book he read years ago. I've read that book. I've also had a heart attack that the only signs were pain in my left arm and nausea.  I'm so proud of him. I hope Tim is doing better.

Why is there so much conflict over the Dome of the Rock?

The Dome of the Rock is a Moslem Mosque
The "Wailing Wall" is a location Jews go to say daily prayers
This location is considered to be hallowed ground for Christians as well. Tradition says:
1. It is the location of Mount Moriah, which is where Abraham was about to offer up his son Isaac to the Lord.
2. David offered sacrifice to the Lord for his sins on a threshing floor which is located on the same ground.
3. This is also the location where David’s son Solomon had a great temple built.
4. Ezekiel saw in a vision, during the Latter-Days, a temple would be built on the sacred ground.
Dear Mom,

As I have been studying the scriptures I have a few doctrinal questions for you.

1 Nephi 13:42 says something about the first shall be last and the last shall be first. So naturally I took that to mean Christ would come to the Americas first during the second coming because he came to them last during his earthly ministry. But I thought he was going to descend on the dome of the rock? Or no? I can’t remember what the dome of the rock is.

Dear Elder,

I am glad to see you are studying deep doctrine and it is causing you to have questions. You are getting a few things mixed up a bit. I will try to help clear things up for you. The answers cannot be given without quite a bit of documentation, so I will do my best.

1 Nephi 13:42 is talking about how the gospel would be spread to the Jews and the Gentiles. Initially the gospel was given to the Jews first and after Christ’s crucifixion, the apostles started preaching the gospel to the Gentiles. Now in the latter days, the Gentiles are being given the gospel first and the Jews will be getting it second.

You are confusing the prophecy concerning Christ’s visit to Jerusalem after the great battle that will take place there. Christ will save the city from destruction. The Jews will see the nail prints in the Savior’s hands and realize it is Jesus of Nazareth. The prophecy states that at this point the Jews will be converted as a whole, but by this time many Gentiles will have already joined the church so the last shall be first.

1 Nephi 13:42 “And the time cometh that he shall manifest himself unto all nations, both unto the Jews and also unto the Gentiles; and after he has manifested himself unto the Jews and also unto the Gentiles, then he shall manifest himself unto the Gentiles and also unto the Jews, and the last shall be first, and the first shall be last.”

Doctrine and Covenant Section 90: 8 “That thereby they may be perfected in their ministry for the salvation of Zion, and of the nations of Israel, and of the Gentiles, as many as will believe;
9 That through your administration they may receive the word, and through their administration the word may go forth unto the ends of the earth, unto the Gentiles first, and then, behold, and lo, they shall turn unto the Jews.”

So Elder Hackleman, now I will address your second question. Christ will not descend on the Dome of the Rock, he will go to the Mount of Olives.  At this point many great prophecies will be fulfilled including an earthquake causing the hillside to be divided in two providing a place for the Jews to escape from captivity brought on by the great seize of the city during the great battle.

A history lesson might help you understand the Dome of the Rock a little better. The Dome of the Rock is a Moslem Mosque. It is important to Muslim’s. It is also easy to see how important the location is to the Jews as witnessed by the many who visit the Wailing Wall each day. Tradition says the Wailing Wall is the last remaining piece of Solomon’s great temple. The Jews go there often to pray and they put written prayers into crevices in the rock wall.

The third group, who also believe this ground, is holy and sacred are the Christians.

4. Ezekiel saw in a vision for the latter days-a temple would be built on the sacred ground.

The following two quotes were taken from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Institute Manuel.

Ezekiel 37:26–28. A Latter-day Temple in Jerusalem

Ezekiel prophesied in 37:26–28 about a holy sanctuary or temple that would be part of the great reunification of Israel. Soon after this vision, Ezekiel received a detailed vision of what the new temple in Jerusalem would be like (see Ezekiel 40–48). President Joseph Fielding Smith said:“Ezekiel predicted the building of a temple in Jerusalem which will be used for ordinance work after the gathering of Israel from their long dispersion and when they are cleansed from their transgressions”(Doctrines of Salvation, 2:244).

Ezekiel 47:1–12. Waters Issue from the Temple

The Prophet Joseph Smith proclaimed: “Judah must return, Jerusalem must be rebuilt, and the temple, and water come out from under the temple, and the waters of the Dead Sea be healed. It will take some time to rebuild the walls of the city and the temple, and all this must be done before the Son of Man will make His appearance.” (Teachings,p. 286.)

The waters issuing forth from under the temple and the healing of the Dead Sea may occur when the Lord Himself sets foot upon the Mount of Olives, causing this mountain to divide in two and create a large valley (see Zechariah 14:4; D&C 133:20–24; Enrichment I).

We believe the prophecy written in the Old Testament by Ezekiel will transpire. How that will come about is a mystery at this time. No true Christian would ever cause any harm to a sacred building owned by another religion. So how the prophecy of Ezekial will unfold and when it will happen is yet to be fulfilled.
